Communication training

I'm an Approved Trainer for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and run their regular introductory level internal communication training workshop.  My next CIPR workshop is on Thursday 17 May 2012.

In addition to that I offer tailor made communication training support for a wide range of business needs.  Communication Options has also developed a coaching programme, 'Productive Writing for Managers'. This is designed to help managers improve writing skills so that they can create management and strategic documents more effectively.

I believe that too often people are sent on a training course with little thought given to how that training will be applied in the working environment.  Wherever possible I like to involve the HR or line manager to set expectations for training and development, not just for the individual concerned but for managers and colleagues as well, so that lasting impact is made.

Client case studies

For the international pharmaceuticals arm of GlaxoSmithKline I developed training materials to help local co-ordinators worldwide run crisis management training workshops for their local management team.  The training CD helped co-ordinators work out what training was appropriate for their managers and then led them through two levels of self-administered training.  The CD was distributed worldwide and included crisis scenarios specially developed for international audiences.

BAE Systems was introducing an online-based cascade briefing for its corporate headquarters employees.  I worked with the system developers to fine tune an existing briefing system for the specific needs of corporate headquarters.  I then developed a one-on-one training programme for managers who needed to deliver the briefing and for employees who needed to input briefing content.
